ASTORIA BRIDGE
We have worked on the Astoria
bridge on three separate
contracts performing various
blasting and coating services.
These included providing access
and containment while allowing
traffic to continue flowing on the
bridge above
BROADWAY BRIDGE
In the 1980's we had a project with the City
of Portland, Oregon to re-arch and stiffen
several under-deck floor beams on the
Broadway Bridge. The bridge is a
multi-lane structure which had to remain
open at all times. The challenge was to get
materials, men and equipment safely in
place. The project involved steel
preparation, fabricating fitting, welding, and
coating.
INDIAN CREEK FISH LADDER & WATER DIVERSION FACILITY
This was a difficult fix for a salmon hatchery dam because the foot
print of the dam sets on a sliding fault where the rock hillside actually
moves approximately 4” per year. The dam project was a design and
build request to devise a plan that constructed the dam gates in such a
way that they could be shortened as necessary as the mountain moved
towards the stationary fish ladder area. This would protect the integrity
of the gate system and still not jam up and bust during high water-flow
times. We also installed a zinc coating as a passive cathodic protection
system rather than galvanizing the ladder and gate.
BEFORE
AFTER
RAILROAD PROJECTS
We have been involved in several railroad projects and have a close working
relationship with the Port of Tillamook Bay. We have repaired several tunnels
and bridges, both steel and wooden trestles. We also installed suspension
systems to support fiberoptic cable along 57 railroad bridges and bury it
in 10 tunnels.
TUNNEL REPAIRS
We were also involved in some emergency tunnel repairs to be done along the Port
of Tillamook Bay Railroad. We inspect the tunnel; design and sketch repair measures,
and perform the repairs. The repairs on this particular tunnel involve designing a
series of arches out of structural steel wide flange and filling in the area with heavy
timbers.
GOLD BEACH LAND SLIDE
We repaired a landslide in the back yard
of a home in Gold Beach. The
unsuitable soil was removed and new
rock brought in. Hilfiker walls were
also installed.
ROCKAWAY BEACH SEWER
In late 1997, we had a project with the City of Rockaway Beach, Oregon to rehabilitate two city blocks of their failing
public sanitary sewer system. The system needed to remain in operation during the entire process. The challenge on this
particular project was that there was a creek affected by tide fluctuations that ran 8 feet wide and up to 6 feet deep that
needed to be diverted and de-watered continually to allow the below-grade pipeline and man-holes to be installed,
compacted, and tested. The project involved excavation, pvc and concrete pipe installation, concrete man-hole
installation and sealing of over 2000 feet of 6” through 10” pvc pipe and 36” concrete man-holes.
CAMPGROUND AND FOREST SERVICE BOAT
RAMP & DOCK REPAIRS
We have performed several miscellaneous repairs
and upgrades to boat ramps and docks.
