CATHODIC PROTECTION SYSTEM INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE
We have completed Inspection and Maintenance on the Cathodic Protection Systems on
several ODOT bridges. Most of the work was accessed using a Snooper or a Crane. We
tested the reference electrodes to determine if they were still operational and to see what
the current corrosion potential was for each zone. The zinc coating in each zone was
inspected for cracks or disbonding. As needed, we also repaired system negative
connections and installed an upgrade to various J-Boxes so that the testing in the future
may be conducted without removing the cover on each box. When each bridge is
complete, the data is organized and submitted to ODOT with a full report on the status of
each zone and each reference electrode.

This project involved concrete repair & the installation of embedded anodes
into several of the bridge piers.
